Last Week's Training
Friday, January 27, 2012
-
Windcrest Firefighter's trained on Engine Company Operations last week. Captain Vargas organized a series of evolutions and timed the teams of firefighter's. (Chief's team won.....)

The First Evolution was firefighter's starting off in a bunker drill, once fully 'bunked out', they would then proceed to pull the 200 ft 'blue line' off of the engine and would "Wrap" around tree's simulating corner's inside of a structure. Firefighter's would do this with a CHARGED hose line! (Yikes!) They would then show the Instructor (Captain Vargas) water from the nozzle, repack the crosslay and then proceed to the next evolution. The Second phase was firefighter's packing up with SCBA's walking to the confined space contraption and would go thru the confined space maze. After that the final evolution was unrolling and rolling a section of 5" hydrant hose twice, then walking 40 yards. The training was EXCELLENT and was certainely a workout! Great job guys!

More to come soon!!

Just to let everyone know, there will be tons more stories and photos to come from this past Weds at the WVFD from the web team. It just takes a tad bit longer to upload photos to www.windcrestfire.org due to the only software that is offered to us at this time, we have spoken to the hosting company and they are in the process of fixing this problem which in turn will help us to publish stories much quicker, so for now we will put the bulk of the photos on our facebook link which you can get to through our site right here just by clicking our Facebook Button. Thanks for your patience. Sincerely, The WVFD Web Team.

Windcrest Fire responds to an MVC on IH35 North on the access road
Thursday, January 19, 2012
-
Windcrest Fire department was dispatched to the report of a small SUV that was clipped by a semi truck. Windcrest Engine-2, Command, Rescue 1 and 2 arrived on scene with SAFD's Engine crew and SAEMS to find a small SUV that had been hit on the drivers side front of the vehicle. The patient that was driving the SUV was complaining of back and Neck pain and therefore all the appropriate precautions were taken to safe restrain and remove the patient from the vehicle. The driver of the semi was not injured. Also on scene were SAPD and Windcrest PD along with Acadian EMS services. The Patient from the SUV was transported by SAEMS and the scene was cleaned up so the service road could resume regular traffic. Great job by all the Emergency crews that were on hand. Please enjoy the photos as many more from this scene will be posted on our Facebook.
