Mineral Wells Chief Passes Away

Sunday, December 11, 2011 This was posted on www.sffma.org:

It is with great sadness that I must pass on that about 3am Monday, December 05, 2011, Steve Perdue passed away.

Chief Perdue has fought pancreatic cancer for several months and could not win the battle. Steve was the Chairman of the TFLAG legislative committee for SFFMA and was very active in the legislative sessions. Steve made numerous trips to Austin on a moments notice to testify, support legislation or meet with our lobbyist. He would often make the 4.5hour drive from Mineral Wells to Austin, testify, have lunch, then drive back the same day.

Steve served as a commissioner on the Commission on Fire Protection, Chairman of TFLAG, Finance Committee member, Member of the TFS Rural Fire Advisory Council, Guest Instructor for 23 Years at Municipal Fire School and Chief of the Mineral Wells VFD. He was very involved in the fire service in his area and was on numerous major fires including the PK Complex in 2011.

We will greatly miss Chief Perdue, his wit, humor, and dedication he brought to the fire service and SFFMA.
